IBM Connections CCM: What to do if Filenet admin user needs to be changed?

IBM Connections CCM: What to do if Filenet admin user needs to be changed?

Hi all,

you know the situation when your customer wants another Admin User for IBM Connections while doing a migration…

You may know this is a problem when using FileNet. In IBM Connections 5, the createObjectStore script asks you to input an administrative group (so that you can avoid this “admin” problem in future). Anyway if you migrated from 4.5 – 5 there is no admin group input (as standard).

But there is a real smart way how to add an additional administrator for FileNet (THE PREREQUISITE IS THAT YOU ARE STILL ABLE TO LOGIN TO /acce WITH THE OLD ADMIN USER FROM 4.5). The function is called “Security Script Wizard” – you can find it the ObjectStore after accessing /acce.

Amir Barkal found out how this works and shared his knowledge here. Thanks a lot Amir for this!!!

He also describes that this can be used when if want to change from file-based (e.g. wasadmin) to a LDAP user (prerequisite if you want to use SPNEGO).

So take a look at his description! I think it is extremely helpful. I directly made use of this function and it works as expected!

  1. Thanks Julius, this was already on my list to publish on my blog. So I do no longer need to do that … 🙂 Be aware that, as far as I know, the way to run the script via ACCE is only possible since the Filenet components used with CR3. Before, you needed to install the Filenet Enterprise Manager on a Windows PC (part of the Filenet Content Platform Engine Package) with which you were able to do the same.

    1. Hi Michael, thanks for your comment.
Well I`m not sure about CR3… I can see this option also in IC 4.5 CR3 (Filenet Content Engine 5.2.0.2).
Anyway I did not try to change an admin user on this 4.5 environment but only on 5.0 CR3.

      Julius
